Yes!  We are very excited about using Community Cousins' established foundation and experience by helping people organize the program in other locations.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Ideally, you start by gathering 6-8 families.  Community Cousins was conceived in 1995 by a family living near San Diego.  They posted flyers, spoke to clubs, churches, civic groups, everywhere seeking families and individuals of all races to join them. Within three years, the group had grown and flourished.  Community Cousins is currently working with YMCA to make the program available in additional communities... there may be a Y near you that you can work with (We will be happy to refer you if possible.)  Or, you may get help from another established organization, although the most important elment in getting off the ground is a single, dedicated individual who is passionate about bringing people together - anyone can do it.

HOW WOULD I KNOW WHAT TO DO?

Community Cousins would be happy to help you get started by providing a basic instruction kit:  artwork for flyers, forms and letters, and informaiton on exactly what has worked to launch the program in other locations.

WHY DO I WANT TO DO THIS?

One of the greatest concerns facing our country and our communities as we begin the 21st century is that of discord amongst ourselves, largely based on fear and inaccurate assumptions.  Community Cousins offers an innovative approach, so simple and yet so powerful.  You will never know how many lives you might touch by helping to create connnections among Cousins, connections that will ripple through innumerable lives and - very possibly - change the course of history.  And in the process you will have fun and be enriched by making wonderful lifelong friends.
